Boys and Girls at the School Silent Disco

UniSC Theatre Company presents Boys and Girls at the School Silent Disco by Jack McGee

Directed by Dr Hannah Banks

By arrangement with Playmarket

It’s time to disco! Boys and Girls at the School Silent Disco follows a group of Year Six students from Ngaio Primary School as they navigate heartbreak, emotional turmoil, and full out ideological warfare at their end of year silent disco. The play captures the tone children of this age tell their own stories in. The characters speak as if they are the hyper-eloquent-tragi-romantic heroes of their own inner monologue, high on the ego that comes from having all of primary school behind them. Adults are all but non-existent, friendships are hard fought, and a minor humiliation can mean the end of the world.

This UniSC Theatre Company production is the Australian premiere of Jack McGee’s Playwrights b4 25 Award-winning play.

All performances are free and are in the K1.G.09 Performance Studio on the Sippy Downs campus. It is next to Carpark P6 and the Art Gallery.
