Psychology of habits for healthy brain ageing

Understanding how to maximise healthy brain ageing

Approximately 50 percent of the risk for developing cognitive decline is modifiable – we want to better understand how to maximize healthy brain ageing. The Thompson Institute is investigating factors that impact how we form habits and our flexibility with them. Our study used Electroencephalography (EEG) to assess the brain’s underlying neurophysiology that can help bridge gaps in ageing knowledge, leading us to learning how to improve formation of healthy habits in older adults.

In this study, we worked with healthy participants aged 60-90 years and not living with dementia.

Participants completed online and in-person self-report questionnaires

We're now in the data evaluation phase of this study and look forward to sharing published results.
