Preparing for study at SCHI

Studying at the Sunshine Coast Health Institute (SCHI) this session or semester? If so, make sure you're covered before you start.

Mandatory online training modules

You must complete your mandatory online training modules before classes start as part of your SCHI onboarding, following the instructions below.

Even if you have studied at SCHI before, some of the mandatory training modules you previously completed expire every 12 months and must be updated to ensure compliancy.

Your SCHI Security ID card

SCHI students will need an SCHI Security ID card in addition to a UniSC student ID card.

You can be issued with your SCHI Security ID card once you have completed your online training modules. Find out how to get your card below.

Please note: Once you've been issued with your SCHI Security ID card, please keep it until you have completed all study as part of your program at SCHI or all placements at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) and then return it to SCUH hospital security.

SCHI facilities and parking options

Explore your parking options and get to know the wide range of facilities SCHI has to offer to support you in your studies. Information below.

We wish you the very best with your studies.

How to complete your compulsory training modules

You are required to complete the following mandatory online training before classes start:

  • First Response Evacuation Instructions and Emergency Colour Codes
  • Code of Conduct
  • Fraud Control Awareness

To complete the above compulsory training modules you must:

  • Log in to the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) Learning Management System (SC-LOL) using your UniSC student email as your user name and a temporary password.
  • The password will be sent to you from SCHI@usc.edu.au approximately 1-2 weeks prior to classes commencing. You will then be prompted to change your password. Please note that it may take up to 5 working days for SC-LOL access to become available during peak times
  • Complete the above three mandatory modules.
  • Please note that if you are an existing Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) employee you can login to renew the mandatory modules using your payroll number or IDM login if known. SCHI access will be added to your SCUH access card.

You will receive an email in your student email account from the Learning Management System (SC-LOL) team advising you when the below modules are due to be updated. If your online training modules are due for renewal, please ensure you update the mandatory requirements by the renewal due date. If you don't, it will prevent you from participating in your SCHI courses:

  • First Response Evacuation Instructions and Emergency Colour Codes
  • Code of Conduct
  • Fraud Control Awareness

Returning students - Mandatory training

Students returning after 12 months will not receive an email from SC-LOL (Learning Management System), but are required to complete the expired modules prior to commencement of classes at SCHI. Please logon to SC-LOL and check your SC-LOL training transcript to identify which modules need to be completed again.

Students returning to SCHI within 12 months will not receive an email from SC-LOL and do not need to redo their training.

If you need login details please contact the UniSC SCHI team.

General Evacuation Instructions - additional mandatory requirement - first week at SCHI

The General Evacuation Instructions is an additional mandatory requirement for study at SCHI. This must be completed each time you are enrolled in classes at SCHI even if within 12 months.

This will be delivered by your course coordinator as part of your first class. Following this, you must complete and submit an electronic form within two days.  Link to this electronic form will be emailed to you.

If you don’t attend the first class, you must complete the General Evacuation Instructions online by viewing the General Evacuation Instructions PowerPoint (embedded in form) and complete the electronic form via link emailed to you.

How to get and return your SCHI Security ID card

After you have completed the above modules AND have received an email from Hospital Security (SCUH.ID.Cards) advising that your card is ready for printing, you must provide SC-LOL transcript and iLearn (if applicable) proof of compliance and photo ID to Hospital Security on the ground floor of the main hospital building, view map. Your SCHI Security ID card will only be printed once this is sighted. Hospital Security hours of business for cards are currently: Monday-Friday between 0830 and 1500 only. Please return your Security ID card to Hospital Security upon completion or discontinuation of study.

Please note you may experience delays during peak times in receiving email details from the SCUH Hospital Security team.

Parking at SCHI

Learn more about SCHI parking for students. Most car parking at SCHI is based on a user-pays system. If you park in P1 make sure you enter via the public entry lane so you are only charged for the length of your stay. If you enter via staff entry lanes you will be charged for a full day regardless of your length of stay.
