UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition Clinic

The UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition Clinic offers individualised dietary advice using evidence-based information and practice. The clinic is conducted by Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) students, supervised by an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Accredited Sports Dietitian.

Students are committed to helping clients meet their individual needs and goals. Individual personal and medical circumstances are carefully considered within the consultation.

Who can book an appointment at the clinic?

Any member of the community is welcome to attend the UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition Clinic. If you would like to gain personalised advice on your dietary habits, improve your performance or learn more about how food can improve your health and well-being, the UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition Clinic would be very valuable to you.


The students within the clinic are guided by Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Accredited Sports Dietitians to ensure that you receive tailored evidence-based information.

What conditions can be supported in at the clinic?

Whilst private practising dietitians and sports dietitians are able to assist you with the management of a wide range of medical and health concerns. Please note that not all clinical conditions are suited to the UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition teaching clinic. One of our qualified dietitians may contact you to assess whether our service is appropriate for your health care needs.

Our UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition Clinic can provide support for athletes of all levels, from the weekend warrior to the elite, including:

  • Nutrition to optimise your sports performance and recovery.
  • Body composition management, including muscle gain or fat loss.
  • Pre- and post-exercise nutrition advice
  • Competition nutrition planning, including game day or race day planning and carbohydrate loading advice.
  • Sports specific supplement advice
  • Provide guidance on maintaining healthy eating habits while traveling for competitions, including meal planning and restaurant options.

The clinic also provides nutrition support to the general public on enhanced health outcomes and manage:

  • Weight
  • Work performance and energy levels (e.g. combatting shift work and fatigue)
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Gastrointestinal conditions
    • Reflux
    • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
    • Coeliac disease
    • Diverticulitis
    • Constipation
  • Heart disease including –
    • Elevated cholesterol
    • High blood pressure
  • Nutrition through pregnancy
  • Nutrition support after cancer treatment into survivorship
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Malnutrition
  • Respiratory disease
  • Adolescent nutrition
  • Disordered eating

The students along with their Dietitian Supervisor will work with you to provide education and support to help you achieve your health goals.

What conditions cannot be supported at the clinic?

Please note that not all clinical conditions are suited to the UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition teaching clinic.

Some conditions that are outside the scope of the UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition teaching clinic and therefore cannot be seen within our clinic include:

  • Poorly controlled type 1 diabetes
  • Gestational diabetes
  • Tube feeding
  • Complex/fussy eating in children
  • Complex gastrointestinal disorders
  • Complex clinical conditions requiring specialist support

What to expect at an appointment?

During your initial consultation, you will be asked to provide personal information to allow for accurate assessment of your health and personal needs. Any information you disclose will be kept strictly confidential between you, the dietitians and if applicable, your doctor.


Initial consultations are approximately 60 minutes and involve the dietetic students gathering relevant information, developing individualised goals and creating tailored interventions with you.


Review appointments are approximately 30 minutes and involve the dietetic students reassessing your concerns and discussing the success of previous interventions. The dietitians will work with you to further build your nutrition knowledge and create individualised strategies to address your concerns.

Each appointment is tailored to your medical and personal circumstances.

Where can you receive an appointment?

You can choose between a face-to-face appointment at the UniSC Clinic or choose a Telehealth Appointment conducted via an electronic device.

UniSC Clinic

The UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition Clinic is located on Level 2 of Building A2 at the Moreton Bay University of Sunshine Coast campus, 1 Moreton Parade, Petrie QLD 4502.

When appointments are confirmed, the UniSC Clinic Administration team will confirm your vehicle registration and arrange parking for you.

Telehealth 

The UniSC Clinic uses secure systems to undertake telehealth appointments which has video and audio capabilities. The UniSC Clinic will provide you with a personalised link upon confirmation of your appointment. You can access this link on any electronic device, meaning that you can attend the appointment in your preferred location.

How much does it cost?

All appointments at the UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition Clinic are free.

Body composition assessments can be offered as part of the service at the discretion of the Accredited Practicing Dietitian and based on the individual's health goals.
