We accept the process of engagement as one of the three core functions of universities along with teaching and research. Our model of engaging with client communities and organisations, reflects the central idea that it is only through collaboration that the pressing problems of the day can be responsibly addressed. As we see it, our overall purpose at CIDSEL is to promote and nurture inclusive, multi-stakeholder processes aimed at ‘getting to better together’.
To this end, we build strategic partnerships with industries, communities, universities, and research institutes around the world to exchange ideas and share knowledge, skills and resources in the perpetual quest for sustainable ‘betterment’. CIDSEL collaborates with international researchers, development professionals, educators, innovators, entrepreneurs, and UniSC alumni. Our international partnerships take many forms, including joint research and development projects, licensing deals, scholarships, internships, graduate employment programs and philanthropic foundations
Carnegie Community Engagement Classification
The Carnegie Community Engagement Classification allows universities to demonstrate their commitment to the communities they serve and to share good practices in the sector.
Ten Australian universities including UniSC have signed on for the Australia pilot, led by UTS and Charles Sturt University (CSU). The success of the contextualised pilot has resulted in the launch of the Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement for Australia.
As a member university of Engagement Australia, UniSC students and academics have access to quality engagement opportunities and valuable learning programs and up-to-date resources.
CIDSEL has taken the lead on establishing the framework to make UniSC a more community engaged institution by applying the Carnegie principles.
