Sports facility renamed UniSC Arena

The University of the Sunshine Coast has updated the name of its indoor sports facility to UniSC Arena.

It was previously known as USC Stadium.

The University's $24 million indoor sports facility is nationally-accredited, fully air-conditioned and seats more than 3,000 spectators. It is also home to Sunshine Coast Lightning, the Sunshine Coast’s first national sports team.

The arena also caters to a range of local sports at all levels of competition, including basketball, futsal, netball, badminton and volleyball.

The new name reflects UniSC’s brand refresh that took place in July and is being rolled out over a 12-month period.

A ‘stadium’ is generally defined as a structure with an open roof, designed for outdoor sports such as football, soccer or rugby, whereas an ‘arena’ is an enclosed facility designed for indoor sports.

Plans are now underway to update signage at the arena before the 2023 Suncorp Super Netball season begins in March.
