USC Sunshine Coast to welcome 1,800 new students

Preparing for university study will be a sweet experience for more than 1,800 new students starting at USC’s Sunshine Coast campus in Semester 2, with a free pancake breakfast to launch Orientation festivities on Monday 15 July.

Among the crowd will be more than 460 international students, up about eight percent on the new international cohort at this time last year.

The campus will be buzzing on Monday, with the Welcome to USC breakfast hosted by USC staff and student volunteers from 9.15am in the Library courtyard followed at 10am by a Student Guild Market Day on the lawn.

The market will include stalls, student clubs, food trucks and entertainment, with live performances by USC Music students. A Welcome to Country will be held at 12.15pm.

USC Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill said Orientation was an important opportunity for new students to tour the campus, meet fellow students, explore support services and learn about student groups and activities.

Orientation will continue on Tuesday 16 July and Wednesday 17 July with information sessions about various degrees. Free barbecue lunches and live music will be held on both days from 11.30am to 1pm in the Library courtyard.

Semester 2 classes will begin on Monday 22 July. For more details about the USC Sunshine Coast Orientation activities go to www.usc.edu.au/orientation-sc
