A 17-year-old Morayfield student has chosen USC Caboolture as her launch pad to a career in nursing.
Laura Smith, who graduated last year from Morayfield State High School, will be one of 350 students starting Semester 1 at the Tallon Street campus on Monday 25 February.
She said she was delighted to be able to study USC’s Bachelor of Nursing Science so close to home.
“I really want a job where I can help people and travel, which is what my older siblings are doing,” said Laura, who has a Certificate III in childcare.
“I’d heard that USC was good with Nursing Science and the Caboolture campus is close enough that I can live with my family and keep getting shifts at work.”
Laura was student council secretary at high school, representing the needs of students and participating in projects such as the Kokoda Challenge endurance event in Brisbane.
USC Caboolture offers full degrees in business, commerce, education and nursing, along with first-year courses in creative industries.
USC Moreton Bay will open at Petrie in 2020, offering almost 50 undergraduate degree programs including business, education, computer science and mechatronics.
Applications are still open to study at USC in 2019.
