Aussie rules fan Mitchell Purvis of Eaton’s Hill is keen to fly high after recently graduating from the University of the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelor of Business (Management).
Mitchell, 25, completed a Minor in Sport Studies and has leapt at the chance to do an internship with the Brisbane Lions Football Club’s membership sales department.
This involves assisting supporters with membership queries and helping promote the club on game days.
“This is the area I mainly want to head for in my career,” said the former Sandgate District State High School student who was among 1,700 students to graduate from USC last month.
“My goal is to be a part of the sporting and AFL industry in some business or sport management capacity.”
In the meantime, Mitchell is staying busy working in the customer support services department of a Brisbane company that tests soil and rock samples for mining companies.
He said his study at USC had helped him develop skills in communication, organisation, management and leadership and boosted his general business knowledge.
“I chose to study at USC for its great facilities, relaxed atmosphere and location,” he said.
“The things I enjoyed during my time in USC were the great experiences and knowledge gained during my studies, friendships formed, and learning exciting things.”
Applications are now open for mid-year entry to study at USC, with Semester 2 starting on 23 July. Details on how to apply can be found here.
USC’s annual Open Day at its main Sunshine Coast campus will be held on Sunday 22 July and at its Caboolture campus on Sunday 5 August.
