iEngage green career event

The Rise, Building A1, UniSC Moreton Bay
UniSC Careers and Employability is hosting this micro career fair to link employers with students interested in sustainability-related jobs. A sample of the participating companies include Veolia, Department of Resources and Unitywater.
Socials will be sent out with additional participating companies. The careers will suit a range of students, whether studying Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or Business.
Screening of The Breakdown Series

The Breakdown is a Waterbear Original series that investigates some of the most tricky climate topics - capitalism, population, greenwashing, anxiety - and leaves the audience with positive motion.

Free bike clinic

Bring your bicycle along for a free service from 99Bikes Lawnton. While you're there, ask the bike mechanic about how to keep your bike in good working order, or how to get better cycling performance.
Community gardens networking
9.30-11.30am
Moveable Feast Garden, located next to the UniSC Sunshine Coast track
An opportunity for community gardens around the Sunshine Coast, and individuals who support them, to get together and network. The theme is around financial sustainability.
Food insecurity and cooking demonstration stalls
1-3pm
UniSC Sunshine Coast
Stop by this stall to taste, and learn how to make, some yummy and sustainable baked goods. UniSC dietetics students, Harley and Pierce, will be promoting healthy food consumption and sharing information on food insecurity and efforts to reduce that insecurity. Another student run stall will engage staff and students about prioritising a healthy, sustainable and equitable food environment.
Screening - More Than a Fish Kill
Includes tour of water battery for nature sounds and projections
5-8pm
Lecture Theatre 7, Building C, UniSC Sunshine Coast
Developed through the National Museum of Australia, the Cad Factory and Otis Filley Studios, More Than a Fish Kill explores the aftermath of the 2019 and 2023 fish kills along the Barka/Baaka (Darling River). It is a story of how artists, First Nations custodians, fishery managers and students came together to turn ecological disasters into catalysts for connection and revival.
Join us for a screening of this powerful documentary, networking, panel discussion, question time and a twilight walk to the UniSC water battery for nature sounds and projections.

Upskilling sustainability: sustainable night economy

The Night Economy includes nighttime activities that feed into the economy (i.e., restaurants and bars, events and tourism, festivals and concerts). With experienced professionals (UniSC academics Dr. Lenny Vance, Dr. Vikki Schaffer and Dr. Leanda Garvie) and students, this event encourages you to join the discussion to co-shape our experience under the Dark Skies. Reach for the stars and have your say on what a sustainable night experience should look like. Event attendance qualifies students to accrue Leadership Award Points, recognising commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.

Climate anxiety citizen's assembly
10-11.30am
Tiered teaching space G.18, Building E, UniSC Sunshine Coast
Climate anxiety is quite real for many Australians, particularly the youth. In this workshop we will work together to develop strategies and actions to move past that anxiety and take positive action.
Included in this session will be a screening of a Waterbear Original series focussed on climate anxiety and a discussion with academics working in related spaces.
