Cairns Youth Sexual Violence Support Services – Evaluation
Using a realist evaluation design (and EMMIE reporting framework) the SVRPU team evaluated the implementation and delivery of the Cairns Youth Sexual Violence Support Services model, comprising prevention and response services. It considered the efficiency and effectiveness of the service response model to prevent and reduce harms caused by perpetration of youth sexual violence to drive continuous improvement in service delivery. Implementation successes and short-medium term outcomes were considered alongside barriers experienced. Areas for consideration were reported back to the Department, via a full report and statewide presentation to Department personnel, to determine refinements to support ongoing service delivery and fully realise the intended outcomes of the service model, given the community need and demand for support to reduce the extent and impact of YSVA in Cairns.
Impact
Organisations under the Department’s model received further funding to support their vital service delivery in the Cairns region. The Department is using these recommendations to guide continued service delivery enhancements.
