Enhancing the health and wellbeing of older adults living in regional communities through innovative research that promotes functional ability, meaningful engagement and independent living.
The Sunshine Coast community reflects a future Australia. In 2021, 22 percent of the population were aged over 65 years compared to 19 percent in other regional areas of Queensland and 14 percent in metropolitan Queensland. This makes healthy ageing a priority for our region to assist in tackling novel ways to live better in later life.
Our innovative research has the following distinctive focus and priorities:
- Interdisciplinary approaches driven by the needs of consumers and industry
- Regional disparities in ageing and access to health care services
- Proactive prevention and early intervention
- Bridging the technological divide
- Translation and implementation
- Workforce and policy gaps
