City of Moreton Bay Scholarship

Scholarship applications for Semester 1, 2025 are now open and close on 3 December 2024 (extended).

Please be aware you may not be able to access the scholarship application form from 30 November to the morning of 2 December 2024 due to system maintenance.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by close of business, 28 February 2025.

City of Moreton Bay is committed to improving the region’s tertiary participation rate by creating education opportunities for local residents, and supporting the leaders of tomorrow to study at UniSC Moreton Bay or UniSC Caboolture.

The City of Moreton Bay Scholarship provides assistance to students with demonstrated financial need and the academic potential to achieve their education and career goals.

The Scholarship is available to students from the Moreton Region commencing an undergraduate degree at UniSC Moreton Bay or UniSC Caboolture. Seven (7) scholarships will be offered annually, valued at $8,000 per year for the standard duration of an undergraduate program (up to 5 years), up to a maximum value of $40,000 per scholarship. Student recipients will receive payment in regular fortnightly instalments totalling $4,000 per semester.

Recipients will be expected to maintain full-time enrolment in their academic program at UniSC Moreton Bay or UniSC Caboolture throughout the period of their scholarship and maintain a minimum GPA of 4.5.

Shortlisted students will be requested to provide additional supporting documents relating to proof of residency, household income and living situation in December/January.

Please Note:  This scholarship is offered on a yearly basis through funds provided by an external donor. If funding is not available in any given year, the scholarship will not be awarded.

Eligibility
  • Be a full-time commencing undergraduate student undertaking study at UniSC's Moreton Bay or Caboolture campus in either a single or double degree
  • Be a resident of the City of Moreton Bay region for a minimum of two years immediately prior to, and at the time of, the application
  • Have graduated from year 12 studies no more than two (2) years prior to commencement at UniSC's Moreton Bay or Caboolture campus
  • Achieve a minimum ATAR 77.35 or equivalent rank
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be a permanent resident of Australia, Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or a permanent Australian Humanitarian Visa holder; and 
  • Students wishing to transfer credit from an undergraduate bachelor level program from any Higher Education provider will not be eligible.

  • Leadership skills demonstrated through academic, extra-curricular and/or community contribution including:
    • Readiness for tertiary study: Consideration will be given to the extent to which the applicant is able to demonstrate their readiness to undertake tertiary studies
    • Civic contributions and participation: Consideration will be given to the applicant’s past and current civic contributions and participation such as volunteering, participation in sporting activities and/or support of community groups
    • Community aspirations: Consideration will be given to the applicant’s intent to contribute to the Moreton Bay community throughout and beyond their studies
    • Career aspirations: Consideration will be given to the applicant’s ability to articulate their career aspirations and the alignment of their chosen course with these aspirations.

Applicants must provide the following as part of their application:

    • Personal statement outlining leadership skills demonstrated through academic, extra-curricular/community and community aspirations
    • Written statement of support from a teacher, school principal, or other community leader, outlining how the applicant has demonstrated leadership through academic, extra-curricular and/or community contributions.
