Diploma of Event Management with Honours and Bachelor of Business (Tourism)
Program OverviewThe Diploma of Event Management with Honours and Bachelor of Business (Tourism) is a dual award program offered jointly between Cooloola Sunshine Institute of TAFE (CSIT) and the University of the Sunshine Coast. The dual awards consist of a Diploma with Honours through CSIT and a Bachelor of Business through the University. In the first year, you undertake studies at the CSIT's Mooloolaba campus on four days per week, while undertaking one course towards your Bachelor of Business at the University's Sippy Downs campus. During the first semester of your second year, three days are at CSIT, and 2 courses are taken at the University. From semester two of the second year, the remaining 12 courses are taken at the University. This full-time program commences in Semester 1 each year. Teaching ModeThere are different teaching modes between the CSIT Diploma modules and the University's Bachelor of Business courses. Diploma modules are face-to-face teaching with performance based assessment. The University's Bachelor of Business courses have 3 or 4 hours of contact per course per week, generally in the mode of a 1 hour lecture and 2 hour tutorial, with students completing a further 6-7 hours of self-directed learning per course per week. The self-directed learning consists of readings, research, assignments and other assessment items.
