Luiz Pereira graduated as Environmental Engineer in Brazil and is recognized as a Technologist Engineer by Engineers Australia. He is currently working in developing protocol and setting up operational standards for the Operational Team within Project Tarsier in the Philippines. He provides training and skills development for the reforestation team on silviculture practices and holistic environmental regenerative approaches.
With extensive professional experience Luiz`s career began at G&D Brazil in 2006 starting on the Quality Assurance Team as a Quality Analyst, gaining experience in quality control and processes to identify and minimize issues, reduce rejection rates, and drive improvement. Later as an Environmental Analyst, Luiz contributes to the management of ISO14001 developing strategies to ensure compliance with ISO certification and Brazilian environmental regulations.
After completing his studies in Environmental Engineer, he moved to Australia in 2013. In 2016 he commenced employment at Super Forest Plantation. For nearly five years his responsibilities included tree planting, various stages of pruning, thinning, manual tree harvesting, heavy machine operations, and supporting the livestock team with various tasks.
In pursuit a more sustainable and organic approach, he started to working with Byron Shire Land Care Chemical Free in 2021, participating in ecological restoration projects for native forests in many different sites in Northern River region.
In March 2023, his professional development expanded by overseeing the planting of 199 hectares for Corporate Carbon. In this role, Luiz assessed the 2022 tree planting areas, identified improvements for seedlings survival rates, and supervised the 2023 tree planting, including manual and visual assessments on seedlings planted and tree planters.
