Lisa holds a Master of Teaching (Secondary) and Bachelor of Laws. She comes with a wealth of experience in Tertiary and Secondary education. Lisa’s leadership experience in secondary schools includes being Head of Learning Support and Wellbeing where she focused on  literacy support and interventions, as well as inclusion and diversity in the classroom. Her teaching specialisation was English 7-12 and Legal Studies/HASS.

Lisa has been working across the University sector for the past six years in a variety of roles across three universities, while maintaining her teaching role in High Schools. Lisa has worked with Western Sydney University  for the past six years as an academic sessional and one on one mentor in the Law School; with Central Queensland University for the past 4 years as an academic sessional focusing on diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives; and with the University of the Sunshine Coast in the fields of diversity and inclusion, literacy and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.

Currently, Lisa is also working as a Research Assistant with the Marigurim Yan project, which focuses on Secondary school Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to lift student outcomes, attendance and engagement in learning as highlighted in the Closing the Gap implementation plan. This includes creating strong connections with community and Elders to raise educational aspirations.

Previously Lisa worked with the Law Society of NSW as a Solicitor, and with Welsey Mission as an outreach pro bono Solicitor. She remains on the Supreme Court NSW Roll of Solicitors. Lisa has studied and worked overseas, studying in Indonesia and Teaching in Malaysia. She has also project managed regional and Statewide events such as the NSW Careers Association State Conference, and regional Try a Trades.

Lisa is looking forward to identifying further research areas, creating strong networks and community connections, and contributing to the academic research in our ever-changing profession of Education.
