Helen joined UniSC in October 2024. Her aim is to lead the Research Legal team in providing timely, fit for purpose contract negotiation and administration, while mitigating and minimising risk for UniSC and facilitating research funding. In regular liaison with internal and external stakeholders she and her team support the management of UniSC’s research business, and the work of the Office of Research.
Prior to joining UniSC, Helen worked as an in-house lawyer in London, United Kingdom, with a strong focus on commercial contracts. She has spent 20 years of her career in Shell’s legal department supporting varied lines of business, including commodities trading, shipping, advertising and marketing, compliance, supply and distribution, and procurement.
She was responsible for managing a team of lawyers and sat on multiple leadership teams, working domestically and internationally. Helen holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Law from the University of Sheffield and was admitted to practise as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2002.
