Michelle Maugham-Macan

Dr Michelle Maugham-Macan joined the School of Health at UniSC as a Lecturer in Biomedical Science in February 2020.

Prior to joining UniSC, Michelle worked as an Associate Lecturer in Anatomy and Physiology and Research Fellow at the Australian Centre for Prostate Cancer Research - Queensland, Queensland University of Technology (2018-2020) investigating novel therapeutics that target metabolic syndrome and advanced prostate cancer.

Michelle’s current research focuses on the impact of childhood conditions and cancer on bone biology; specifically investigating the aetiology of early-onset osteoporosis in Down Syndrome and the effect of adipose tissue on bone metastases. Michelle is an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society (ANZBMS), the Endocrine Society of Australia (ESA) and the Trisomy 21 Research Society (T21RS).
