Dr Micah Scudder joined the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2019 as a Research Fellow with the Tropical Forests and People Research Centre.
Micah is a forest scientist specialising in forest economics and sustainable small-scale/community forestry development. His recent work has been in Papua New Guinea on an ACIAR funded project, “Enhancing community forestry in Papua New Guinea.” This research integrates socioeconomic, biophysical, and policy analysis as a tool for identifying forest management and reforestation strategies that can improve livelihoods of smallholders and communities.
Prior to joining UniSC, Micah has had a diverse background in forest management and research. He has research experience in forest products industry and timber harvest analysis, international trade of forest products, logging utilisation and biomass, and forest fire ecology and management.
