K'gari's seemingly endless stretch of golden beach along its east coast is one of the longest, uninterrupted sweeps of ocean beach in the world
K'gari's stunning 120 km Eastern Beach is one of the longest, uninterrupted sweeps of ocean beach in the world. Along this beachfront are incredible sand formations being carved out by wind and water eroding the Island's sand mass.
Hundreds of streams and creeks punctuate the shoreline of this world famous gazetted beach highway, that stretches from Hook Point in the south to Takky-Wooroo (Indian Head) in the North.
The width of the beach varies with the weather and the tide and is narrower at its southern end.
Check the tide times and avoid driving on the beach two hours either side of high tide.
All road rules apply and the maximum speed is 80km an hour.
