OVERVIEW
Follow a walking track from the beach to see the stunning lunar-like landscapes of Kirrar Sandblow and coloured sands of Rainbow Gorge.
Allow one hour from the eastern beach carpark for this circuit walk.
On the walk observe plant succession in action, with coastal scrub and groves of Cypress Pine, many bearing Elk Horns.
Layers of reds, yellows and browns create rich ochre-coloured art-like swirls in this sandy gorge.
Take note of the remarkable collection of tiny sand pedestals supporting iron pan capping.
It opens up to Kirrar Sandblow, a vast landscape of colourful sand formations.
Look for deep red, brown and orange bedded layers of sand made permanent by fine particles of concentrated clay.
