Workplace health, safety and wellbeing

You'll be supported to promote, protect and improve your health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) as you work at UniSC.

Safety induction and training

Staff complete modules in health, safety and wellbeing, fire and emergency preparedness and manual handling (as required) when commencing, and then each year between January and March. You can access staff training on Canvas.

UniSC students are encouraged to complete the UniSC student health, safety and emergency procedures training.

Contractors and volunteers working at, or for, UniSC must uphold contractor and volunteer safety requirements and complete all mandatory online safety training.

Incident reporting and risk management

If you see something, say something. These are words we live by at UniSC. Report all incidents including injuries, accidents and near-misses. UniSC takes actionable steps to address risk, and respond to, and reduce, incidents to keep our workplaces safe.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

UniSC staff and their immediate family and household members have access to free and completely confidential counselling services, 24-hour a day, through the EAP. The independent service is accessible by phone, face-to-face, online, video or live chat. Learn more and access support on MyUniSC.

Working together

We all play an important part in creating a safe and healthy working and learning environment. Policy is embedded at the highest level with responsibilities and accountability across the whole university.
