Half-pearls and shellcrafts offer social and economic benefits to local communities in the Pacific, and make sustainable souvenirs for tourists, as well as preserving local cultures. Come visit our interactive display of mollusc shells, pearl products, production methods, and shell crafts which show how research at the Australian Centre for Pacific Islands Research integrates indigenous ecological knowledge, modern jewellery production methods, and local cultures to support the development of pearl-based livelihoods in the Pacific region.
