Program OverviewThe Honours degree offers you the opportunity to continue your undergraduate studies at a higher level in your area of interest and to specialise in an area of study before entering the workforce in a relevant position. The degree also provides entry to further postgraduate study, particularly study that is research-focussed. Entry RequirementsYou must have completed a Bachelor of Science, or a related degree from a recognised higher education institution, with at least eight courses in the area of study of your thesis topic. A high level of achievement in the intended area of study must be demonstrated. These are minimum requirements and do not guarantee entry. Importantly, enrolment is contingent upon the Faculty's capacity to provide appropriate supervision. Honours AreasHonours is offered in the following areas:
Program StructureThe Bachelor of Science (Honours) consists of studies by original research, preparation of a thesis/dissertation and oral presentations of the project plans and outcomes. The thesis/dissertation is required in a form consistent with the publication standards for internationally referenced journals. Program Requirements and NotesDissertation This is a research project conducted over the full year of enrolment. Length is a maximum of 100 pages, as described in guidelines provided to students at the beginning of their enrolment. Supervision and Research A staff member with relevant research interest and expertise will supervise you. The nature of your research project and stages of the research is discussed with your supervisor who will assist you to develop a project management plan. Grade The grade will be awarded in one of the three classes:
Class 2 Honours is awarded as Division 1 or Division 2. |
