Description


To participate effectively in the day-to-day life of a community work agency community workers require a high level of practical knowledge and skills. It is important to understand how agencies manage their administrative and managerial affairs; how they plan and strategise and how they deal with conflict. Communication skills, including written and verbal/nonverbal skills are also essential to working within a community organisation. The course introduces students to essential community work skills and their application in practical situations. It provides the basis of professional knowledge necessary for successful and effective participation in practice situations.
