PUB 351
(Offering: 2003)
Description
Health Promotion Implementation and Evaluation builds on the skills developed in assessing public health needs and planning public health actions. The Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion is used as the framework for determining appropriate strategies for the implementation of public health action. The fundamental principles that underpin ecological public health are examined. Thes principles include ecological and social justice, equity, participation and human rights. The principles help guide the development of Health Promotion Implementation and Evaluation strategies. A range of change theories and models that underpin the implementation and evaluation of public health actions are examined in the course. These include theories on politics, power distribution, behaviour change, community change, organisational change and policy development. The application of these theories to the development of strategies is explored. Models for working with groups and the health promoting setting models are examined.
